'Best Online Story’ Included In 2018 Premiere Agri Awards

KAWIT, Cavite – The 12th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards, a private-sector led premiere agricultural journalism competition in the country, announced on Monday that it has included the latest and special category, the “Best Online Story,” for the competition this year.
 

Officials from the agricultural company PFMTC Inc. – the Philippine affiliate of Philip Morris International has embarked on its Bright Leaf caravan during a media conference with Cavite-based journalists at the Binakayan Hall of Island Cove Hotel and Resort here.
 

The Bright Leaf organizers said they would also visit other parts of Calabarzon, the Visayas and Mindanao after their successful launching in Bulacan last month.
 

PFMTC Inc. Communications Manager Didet Danguilan-Santiago shared that the awards established in 2007 is meant to recognize the most important and outstanding agricultural news stories in print, radio, television and online aimed at raising the discourse of critical agricultural issues and celebrating the best photographs that captured the spirit of Philippine agriculture in a single frame.
 

Santiago said the online category was added this year owing to the current trend of readers getting their information speedily in the digital age through the internet.
 

With the theme “12 Years of Bounty” for the season, Bright Leaf invites journalists to submit entries for the Agricultural Story of the Year, Agricultural Photo of the Year, Tobacco Story of the Year, Tobacco Photo of the Year, Best Television Program or Segment, Best Radio Program of Segment, Best Agricultural Story-National, Best Agricultural Story-Regional, Best Agricultural Feature Story-National, Best Agricultural Feature Story-Regional and Best Online Story.
 

The award which also aims to provide a venue where journalists may keep up with the programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA) has invited Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer of DA Region IV-A Eda Dimapilis to brief the Cavite media.
 

Dimapilis presented an overview and shared insights on the current status of agriculture in the province and what best stories to write about or feature.
 

Interested journos may submit their published Agricultural stories and photos, TV radio programs or segments aired or published between Sep 1, 2017 and Aug 31, 2018 to Bright Lead either via email (secretariat@brightleaawards.com) or submit through website (www.brightleadawards.com).
 

Aspirants may also send by courier their entries to Bright Lead Awards 2018, Juicebox Shop Inc., Unit 2F Phoenix Heights Condominium, 40 Henry Javier St cor Danny Floro St, Pasig City 1600.
 

Journos are welcome to submit more than one story per category but a story cannot compete for two different categories.
 

Deadline for submission is on Sept 1, 2018.
