The 9th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards Is Now Open
May 24, 2015

The Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards (BLAJA) team made a series of roadshows across key cities in the Philippines in efforts to collect more entries every year and invite local media practitioners to submit entries as well as answer any queries about the awards.

On the evening of May 18, the roadshow made its way to Cagayan de Oro City at the NHotel where two-time winner Bong Fabe shares his thoughts to fellow media personalities.  Fabe shares “there is no formula” to winning the Bright Leaf competition, since there are different sets of judges each year, “write a story that is close to your heart and write it from the heart, and do a lot of research”.

Since 2007, Bright Leaf Awards has been looking for the best stories and photos that were aired or published on national and local TV, Print and Radio media from a certain period of time.  This year stories and photos between September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015 will qualify as entries.

The Bright Leaf team introduced the following awards to view for:  Agriculture Stor of the Year, Agriculture Photo of the Year, Tobacco Story of the Year, Tobacco Photo of the Year, Best Television Program or Segement, Best Radio Program or Segment, Best Agriculture News Story National, Best Agriculture News Story Regional, Best Agriculture Feature Story National, Best Agriculture Feature Story Regional and The Oriental Leaf Award, this special award is given to those who have won any Bright Leaf Award in any category for five years.  The Oriental Leaf Awardees become part of an elite group of individuals that comprise the Bright Leaf Hall of Fame.
